[listening] What's On The Turntable?

I can't get this out of my head; it's completely ear wormed me with joyful dance tracks. I missed that it came out last year, otherwise it'd probably be in my most played of 2020.

I've just discovered Liliac, a 5-piece band made of siblings from Los Angeles. They primarily started out playing covers of classic rock and metal tracks, but they have since released two albums of their own material.

Their cover of Master of Puppets

Their cover Symphony of Destruction

Their cover of Crazy Train

This week I am mostly listening to Marillion’s latest live concert release.

Recorded at St David’s in Cardiff, the band are ‘with friends’ (string quartet, French horn, flute) which adds a depth to their music. Several of these songs are fast becoming favourites. I think the version of “Ocean Cloud” is perhaps the best they’ve released. Can’t wait to see them in November, COVID willing.

Tickets went on sale today. Unless you’re on their mailing list, in which case you could get them last Thursday. I’m seeing them - COVID permitting in November.
