Very much enjoyed Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite on Netflix.

In many ways, it's the movie of Annie Jacobsen's Nuclear War: A Scenario. But it's more ambiguous, and really highlights how little time anyone would have in the event of a real nuclear strike.

We're looking to book for the Cambridge IMAX sometime next week... I can last out for the 3 hours, but I'd need to visit the facilities before heading home.

This is where the old time supporting picture, interval, main feature helped.

That's why I like seening Bollywood films at the cinema so much. They all have a 10 minute interval.

Ann Droid. It is a brand new sitcom from the BBC and I actually found it to be highly amusing. The only reason I started watching it was because it was filmed right on my doorstep. I even got caught up in the filming one day! All episodes are available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.

I really enjoyed this as well - kind of a comic take on the Channel 4 series Humans from a few years back. Much better than its lacklustre trailer suggests.

Ann Droid appears to be a ratings hit for the BBC, with the first episode gaining over 4 million viewers in the first seven days. It will be interesting to see what the 28 day ratings will be and whether it will surpass Small Prophets and Can You Keep a Secret.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Dhoom 2 and Dhoom 3 on Netflix, I decided to watch the original Dhoom when it suddenly turned up. It is... meh. Too much comedy sidekick character, and the heist plot is fairly generic. They are more interested in the motorcycle chases than how the thieves do the heist.

Agneepath (also on Netflix, 2012 version) is far, far superior. Crime/thriller. Serious plot, very good acting. First third of the movie is about the main character as a kid, in the aftermath of his dad's murder. The rest is him as an adult, working for one crime lord to eventually get close to another for revenge.

Also saw Overlord on Netflix. A fun horror movie. But leave your historical accuracy meter at the door. Some guys from the 101st Airborne during D-Day discover a secret lab full of Nazi experiments to revive the dead. Colourblind casting for the American characters.

I’ve just finished watching season two of Batman: Caped Crusader on Prime, and I thought it was excellent. It feels like a worthy successor to the early 1990s Batman animated series. For anyone unfamiliar with Caped Crusader, the series is set in a 1930s-style Gotham, with Batman still in his early years as a crimefighter and many of the villains have been reimagined. It is clearly aimed at an adult audience, with a darker tone than most previous Batman animated series.

The first episode actually attracted 4.61 million viewers in the +7 day ratings. It was the top scripted programme that week, being the 5th most watched programme after some of the World Cup coverage.

Longlegs (2024): 1990s set film with a psychic female FBI agent on the trail of a Satanic serial killer who butchers entire families. It's reminiscent of Red Dragon/Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs, but with an extra layer of minimalist unsettling atmosphere to it. Almost as if one of Thomas Harris's novels had been adapted by Dennis Wheatley and Harold Pinter. Not really convinced by the explanation at the end though. Nicholas Cage as the eponymous killer goes way over the top, as usual.

Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, son of Anthony, who seems to be a chip off the old block.
