What have you splurged on recently? (The Return)

View attachment 5649

I discovered last week that the British Library does a Tales of the Weird subscription service, where they mine their collection for out-of-copyright tales.

I liked the idea, but decided to sample a couple of past books before committing to it.

I like the design of their Tales of the Weird books. I've just ordered Randall's Round by Eleanor Scott (Helen Leys), mainly for the two extra tales which are probably by yet another of her alter-egos, N.Dennett.

PS I think the link to the subs service might have gone awry - seems to be to a free form game based on the Roswell incident?

I just read a review of this.. how did it play?
Not sure if it's the same system as their other 2000AD games. I have the Dredd game; I think the minis are nice but oversized (more like 35mm than the advertised 28), but the system didn't grab me and did a bad job of representing the source material.

Great book, but I'm glad I printed it A5...

Yeah, I like zozer games but I don't understand why he typesets all his books like they are from the large print section in the local library.
:DThat's what I like about them. Saves me having to put my reading glasses on.

I'm just about to splurge on Cepheus Universal at Lulu - I have the pdf from DriveThru already. How difficult was it to get the A5 version set up and printed at Lulu?
Pretty simple, but I have the right tools. Drop me a message.

HP Omen 34C 3440 x 1440 display from a Black Friday sale.
Been looking at this kind of screen for quite some time and quite pleased with it.

At work so not really had a chance to dive deep but this looks very much like a modular mega dungeon in effect.

I went to Dragonmeet and splurged on EVERYTHING! :D
Lots of Xmas shopping for gamer friends and relative - crackers with dice in them, RPG themed socks, dice bags, dice boxes, shiny dice, sparkly dice, etc. Not naming the games I bought for people in case they read this!

Then I may have tripped and accidentally bought a ton of shiny things for myself.
Dead tree version of Ecopunk 2044
Era: Friction and Era: Deadwest from https://www.era-games.com/games/
White Sands from Critical Kit
And some chonky liquid core d20s and a set of pretty sparkly 'candy wrapper' dice.

So? So, I buy a bit of gamer bling every now and then? I can give it up anytime I like...

The more ambivalent postal delivery. Urban Shadows arrived, over three years late…

That kind of puts me off really. I'll leave it to you.
Having skimmed some more, it's procedurally a dungeon crawl (you prepare, enter, explore, then exit) but the way it works is more like a sandbox. There are a lot of locations which can move around. It includes Pandemonian below, the Looking Glass World and pretty much all the tropes you'd expect.

Not a mega dungeon as such but functionally similar. But also very functionally similar to a sandbox with factions.

Huge double Kickstarter landing today.
