• TavernCon is open to all on this forum and you are welcome to register to play and/or offer a game! It's all free and online. Your participation can be anything from one game, or a full weekend, signing up and running as many games as possible! We like to run the event each year to provide an opportunity to actually meet up virtually, and talk and play great RPGs. Hope to see you there. :)

What have you splurged on recently? (The Return)

And finally, Dolmenwood slunk in with two huge boxes the better half was not impressed with.

Kickstarters and Backerkits have definitely been like buses this week. Seen nothing for several months then they all land.

Roleplaying games en general..
It's well written, clever, and well produced.

Mine has arrived today as well. :)

I've also got issue #2 of Secret Passages, which I haven't opened yet. It's A5, and more like a zine. I'm delighted that right now there are two British semi-pro ttrpg magazines on sale!

So, Portal Games took a reputational hit when they delivered one of their games very late, but Race to Berlin has been delivered pretty much on time and looks fascinating. Two player wargame of the last six months or so of the war in Europe. One player plays the Soviets and the Western German battle groups, the other the Western Allies and the Eastern German battle groups. The aim is to be the side that takes Berlin…

Hellcat Tankers

Solo wargame-in-a-book putting the player in command of the eponymous Hellcat tank destroyer, an unusual (radical even) American WW2 design that traded armour protection for high speed. Its 76mm gun was effective against German medium tanks but struggled against heavier models like the Tiger. Hellcat crews were reputedly adept at using their vehicle’s mobility to attack targets in their more weakly protected flanks. I shall endeavour to emulate their success.

These days life’s too short for complex wargames like Squadleader, but I’m hoping this will scratch my panzer sized WW2 itch without unduly taxing the old noggin. The campaign game where your crew improves with experience was another factor in convincing me to shell out the readies. Hoping it brings a hint of roleplaying game to what can be a fairly mechanical experience of just winning or losing an individual scenario.

Looking forward to whizzing around the French countryside in my tinfoil tank trading shots with Jerry.

If Neon Rain doesn't work out for you (for whatever reason), I'm here for the pre-owned/clearing space post ;)
