[watching] Up and Coming TV Programmes and Movies

Nathan

I thought I'd start a thread for up and coming programmes on TV and streaming.

I'll kick off with the announcement that BBC One have acquired the rights to CW's hit new series Superman and Loise. The series launches on Saturday December 4th, with all 15 episodes being made available on the iPlayer straight away. From the looks of it, the series will fill the old Doctor Who slot early on Saturday evenings.

It appears Star Trek: Discovery will move away from Netflix to Paramount+ From season 4 onwards. I suspect Picard and Lower Decks will follow suit.

Paramount+ launches in the UK next year.

I'm looking forwards to The Wheel Of Time, which is released on Amazon Prime video on Friday. If it gets another 15 seasons I might find out how the story ends...

Witcher Season 2. Just.. cos.. love.. it..

Not a specific show, but I see Peacock is now available as a streaming service on Sky at no extra charge. It doesn't seem to have much on it at the moment, but Heroes caught my eye because I thought there were only two seasons of that, and Peacock lists four.

The rebooted BSG from 2003 and the new proposed BSG series are meant to be heading to Peacock.

They’ve pulled past series for all international markets as well.

There were four series of Heroes. Three in the original run, although this was messed about a bit by the strikes (writers?) that took place at that time, then a fourth came our, Heroes Reborn, which revisited some of the cast with an new storyline.

I did think the main story of Heroes was dramatically complete, and in a satisfying way, with the cheerleader jumping off a tall thingy at the end of season two. But I would still be curious to see what they did next.

I hate to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure the end of season shot with the cheerleader revealing her power to the world was after the carnival plotline, which was season 4.

Huh. Wikipedia says you're right. I definitely remember that scene, so I guess I must've watched all of 'em.

No, there were definitely only two seasons of Heroes. And three Star Wars films. And three Indiana Jones films. And one Matrix.

Any more would have been sheer stupidity.

And there was only one Highlander.

Had a real soft spot for Highlander, loved the film and the soundtrack - there can be only one!
....Except, much to my surprise, I recently discovered that a reboot is in the works... https://movieweb.com/highlander-reboot-modern-tragedy/ Thought they'd given up after the mixed bag of sequels and TV series.

(I've always wanted to know if Freddie recorded a full version of New York, New York after the tantalisingly brief clip played in the scene whilst they're driving across the bridge. Stunning.)

I liked what I saw of the TV series but I'm certain there was only one film ;-)

I remember being in the cinema to watch Highlander 2. As the BBFC certificate came up, a voice came from the row behind: "Oh no, we're in the wrong film." And they left.

I wished I had followed them.

Highlander 3 was, as I recall, okay. But only okay.

The streaming silos are starting to annoy me. Now you cannot just enjoy Netflix, but need Amazon, Disney+, HBO Max and Apple (because of Isaac Asimov's Foundation one of the best SF I have seen in a while). So I no longer snigger at my uni days of alternative sources anymore.

Yes. Agree with @negromaestro. I hand a policy of cancelling each one every 3-6 months.
