[shopping] Temptation waits... what are you resisting?

Much respect to Fria Ligan/Free League. Looks like I have all the 5e I need and should avoid all new fantasy temptations from Kickstarter.

Ruins of Symbaroum for 5e is a very well crafted set of rules and lore, with the races being unique and even the dwarves are different from what you imagine when thinking all dwarves are PHB dwarves. The class professions are flavourful and different from PHB.
I'll run Dragonbane for you instead.

Still resisting Dragonbane so far. This is the game I wanted in 1985, but nowadays I'm not sure it does anything my own D100 rules don't. I almost certainly won't run it, and is it worth getting on the off-chance of playing in someone else's game? Not convinced (yet).

Oh, and ducks. :cautious:

Before the Kickstarter ends, there will surely be over 10,000 people who will own Dragonbane. That is a lot of potential GMs to run this game..
Many opportunities to get to play this just as a Player, but you can go for the low PDF tier if you want a rules refresher before play.

I usually go the "Full English Breakfast " tier in my pledges, but this time I went trim because I too know I will never run this. But then there is the FOMO factor which my low pledge can satiate (so I tell myself, anyway).

I think I may pass as I have too many fantasy RPGs I don't play already.

Looks lovely though.
Ditto, and Symbaroum and Trudvang plough this furrow being also roll under d20 relatives to BRP via this very same game line.

Agreed, although the ducks were a plus point for me. I'd rather play Elric!/SB5..

Yes, but I guess that it's a riff on RuneQuest ducks as the game was originally a licensed version of Magic World (BRP) by Chaosium.

We didn't find out about Howard the Duck until the internet days, back in the day we always thought RQ ducks were based on Donald.
I think an older person had a copy or a poster or something lying about when I was young.
Like Cerebrus I knew about it long before I ever engaged with it.

So the Cubicle7 Kickstater is live, thought its velocity of funding is pretty slow (after an hour) compared to comparable big hitters.

Shipping from Eastern E.U. so likely affordable compared to shipping from U.S.A. after manufacturing in China.

So is this essentially the journey rules from Adventures in Middle-earth, but with all the names changed?

Edit: I see in the KS comments it's a development of those rules, presumably plus some extra stuff.

Shhh! You will give the game away. Ha ha ha!
I suspect this was a way to salvage work done for the anticipated 2nd Edition of Adventures in Middle-Earth after Cubicle7 lost the license.

Brandon Sanderson has a ton of novels and making tons of money on Kickstarter including with miniatures.

The news just in via a YouTube interview is that he is working on a role playing game set in his Stormlight Universe.

During the d20-glut, I believe the Mistborn RPG was set in this same universe. Looks like it uses its own game engine.
I never played it, but my friends of youthful days were raving all about it. The novels were pretty popular too.

Regarding the latest RPG, the comments were a bit cagey whether the 5e D&D engine would be used considering 2024 is for One D&D
