Another lot of spam this morning.

I know another forum I'm on never gets any spam because all the board posts are private. Only members can see posts.

Is it possible to perhaps we could move to post approve system? I know it is more work for the mods, but once a member is proven not to be a spammer, then the mods can allow that person to post freely.
 
At least cleaning is quick. I can look into those suggestions.

Any solution cannot lead to an excessive increased workload on the moderators: this is a voluntary service is not a full time job.

I have changed registration to require admin moderation approval before they proceed to membership.

We are investigating tighter measures.

I am not willing to make the board private.

We’re seeing a lot of spam applications to join at the moment (24 yesterday and then a block more after the @Guvnor and I barred them); hopefully we’re on top of it but if you see any dodgy posts, report them so we can escort the rabble out.

This happened yesterday on another forum I frequent. They mods and admin managed to shit it down very quickly, but several posts had made it tot he board.

We’re seeing an uplift in spam applications again. A few have got through but we’ve squashed and blocked them. Please keep reporting if you see anything. I deleted 20+ applications at midnight last night, we’ve already got 14 more.
 
Mostly they don’t get that far and we herd them into a side room based on IP address etc. and then purge them. Not seen any NFT ones in those I’ve cleared that got through the filter.

Yeah, I've just cleared out 26 more.
 
We need to find an IP list of countries we can blanket ban, sad to say
