Sober raving, beekeeping and playing Dungeons and Dragons – how people with stressful jobs decompress

But "sober raving", that's just weird, right?

I thought rave was always about necking pills rather than booze anyway. Hence the "loved up" vibe instead of the drunken aggression you'd get at townie night clubs and discos.

Yeah, but pills ain't sober either.
The episode of Spaced when they go out off their tits all night is the closest I have been to that scene.
The posed picture of the doctor roleplaying was delightful.

I thought we'd got away from considering roleplaying to be weird. That was more 80s and 90s when you were advised not to mention participation in the hobby on your cv or in interviews. So it's a bit worrying that the photo had to be posed like that.

I wouldn't disagree, but the article seemed to be making a big thing of the raving doctor not drinking which struck me as a odd as I thought that scene was mostly about the E's rather than the alcohol. Not that I'm any expert - I spent the second summer of love being a grebo drinking newky brown in horrible rocker pubs.
