[Traveller] Pirates of Drinax Season 1

To the tune of Islands in the Stream...

Pirates of Drinax
That is what we are
Flying port to port
Shooting for the stars
Scoundrels of the Reach
Playing every side
A poor track record with low-berths, ah-ah...

Ah, the Scrapheap...

Pirates of Drinax Episode 9: Plastic Fantastic
In which our Travellers damage Palindrome high port when trying to dock with 60 tons of salvaged polymer strapped to the outside of their ship's hull. Port authorities slap a fine on the crew. A crew member looks at the melted polymers. “Do you take plastic?”

Then they try to formulate a plan for capturing Ferrik Redthayne alive. Current favourite is recruiting Captain Blackclaw's aid. You know, the one they had a run-in with back in Episode 6? Can they work out how to persuade him to help them?

This is brilliant. Sounds a bit like Carry on Drinax

Pirates of Drinax Episode 10: Ice Cold In Orbit
In which our travellers spend two days drinking with Captain Blackclaw and his crew, and come to an accord. The Captain gets a majority salvage share of Redthaynes ship if he helps capture Redthayne alive.

Redthayne, upon being captured and realising he's not being taken back to Theev: "Who ARE you guys? Bounty hunters?"
The Vargr captain from our group: "I'm Dog The Bounty Hunter!"

Pirates of Drinax Episode 11: Smile Please!
In which our Travellers deliver Redthayne to the Provosts of Torpol and claim their reward. Later, after partying all night singing Red Zone ("Shaking the Void") with Tisnee Zazzle and the heir to Ludowiak-Reach Shipping, the Travellers find themselves hung over on Torpol Sunrise AM with Joy and Alice in the Morrrrning!

The Vargr captain asked if he could have the reward in the form of a giant gold bone.

Ah Tisnee, now there's a dictator we can boogie to..
a giant gold bone.
That's just.. just.. I don't know..

Pirates of Drinax Episode 12: Blue Monday
The "Jumps since last low berth fatality" sign is set back to zero as the ship's doctor makes some bad skill rolls. Meanwhile, our Travellers make the best Admin rolls I have ever seen to navigate the Bulhai Freeport Transit System faster than the rival group attempting to steal a ship out from under the nose of their new friend, retired Captain Ezra Buchanan.

We also decided that the planet Blue is a hipster planet, serving artisanal hand refined space fuel at the Southern Quarter Downport.

Pirates of Drinax Episode 13: Signs and Portents
Our Travellers finally make it back to Drinax in time for the mid-season finale. There is a party. Followed by another party. Clues to the fabled Treasure of Sindal are unearthed, and the race is on to get to the prize first, as other factions leave on the same quest. To be continued after Christmas...

Only two parties and no assassination attempts? Mmmm Drinax really has gone downhill.. ah well, pass the canapés Archbishop.

Pirates of Drinax S2 starting soon. We'll be diving into Treasure of Sindal next. I really like Shadows of Sindal too, but am unsure if some of the themes are too similar to Treasure of Sindal?

It didn't cause me a problem, and I check this sort of thing with my players regularly, so it didn't bother them enough to mention either. YMMV of course.

I ran both and they didn't see it as a problem however they approached them very differently with very different outcomes and maybe that's because they were a lot further along by the time they played Shadows (I never have them any of these names) and campaign arcs derived from the characters own actions came into play.

Even in a campaign, it's never the same players and characters that encounter a scenario in an evolving character led campaign.
