• TavernCon is open to all on this forum and you are welcome to register to play and/or offer a game! It's all free and online. Your participation can be anything from one game, or a full weekend, signing up and running as many games as possible! We like to run the event each year to provide an opportunity to actually meet up virtually, and talk and play great RPGs. Hope to see you there. :)

Other Games Outgunned: Cinematic Action RPG

So Broken Compass is still available on DriveThru (CMON are the published) and I grabbed the PDF. The engine is pretty much identical to Outgunned. There are tweaks, but they're mainly subtle on first skim and probably fit the genre better. I'll be interested how different OG: Adventure is as a comparator. They're probably close cousins or step-siblings looking at it so @First Age can be relieved about the similarity.

The print copy for Broken Compass Core Rules (the adventure journal) is still around but less easy to find. Leisure Games and Games Lore were out, but ZATU still has it. The supplements are less problematic.

Worth mentioning that the Broken Compass core rules are £7.84 at the moment.

I managed to resist this one. Partially because my Savage Worlds pre order has been shipped, and partially because I may have just bought a lovely Leica lens for my camera.

I do think it’s playing nicely into a similar space as Savage Worlds in intent.

PS tell us more about the lens…

Panasonic Lumix 42.5mm F1.2 Leica DG Nocticron ASPH Power O.I.S.
Previously loved, from MIFSUDS who are a long established camera shop.
I want to start doing theatrical photos and get back into portraits, and I was reminded by a friend recently - "spend the money on the best lenses".

Ooh. That’s a fast one.

I was a late backer on this and got it the physical. It would have been one I would have taken to UKGE but it feel it is one of those games that work with 3-4 players where 5 or more kinda don't work as well for it - I have played in a Broken Compass game with the Yahtzee style to create effects and for the first time it just took a little bit of moments to get a handle on the ability of how the dice combinations work though it is quick.

I have heard that it can be a forgiving system with both the skill rolls and the potential character death.

The current game I am running with my Monday night players, Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades, doesn't seem to be working with us (mainly the published adventures) where as one of mine is definitely interested in OUTGUNNED so Project Medusa will be tried out. If it happens I will report back

As we are in June I am also hoping to run a couple of Xmas themed Action OUTGUNNED one shot in December.

I've just come up with an amazing idea for an Outgunned Adventure scenario. I spoke to @Guvnor privately about it yesterday, and originally I intended on using Fate Accelerated for it. However, I plan not reveal anything here just yet, and I will surprise everyone with it at next Tavern Con (hopefully in September).

Oh heck.. time to start organising

I caved and backed it; I'm not usually one for action-adventure RPG, but the simplicity and directness of the system appealed to me and I'm encouraged that it leaves plenty of room to grow your own ideas.

I am tempted to use this to resurrect the Downtown setting I originally brewed up for Savage Worlds, an unholy combination of Noir & Pulp , though I expect I will lean more heavily on the Pulp aspects this time.

Ah yes, must think of a game to offer if needed!
