Other Games Outgunned: Cinematic Action RPG

Since there wasn't a dedicated thread, I thought I'd start one.

I've just picked up the core rules and the first Action Flicks book, and I like what I see. There's so much potential to unlock here. The system reminds me of Fate, but with more meat on the bones, and it's dice pool mechanic is simple and fun. I picked up the rules very quickly by reading the quickstart, and I like how easy it is to adapt Outgunned to any action genre.

There wasn't many places where people were discussing Outgunned online, including on social media. That prompted me to start a group on Facebook, as I'm sure there are other role-players out there who enjoy this game.

Do you have time to give us a more detailed review?

The art is out of this world, and for me who likes pretty books, I was so very tempted, but stopped at PDF level, which is rare for me, beause those stretch goals of props look so ace, especially the special dice, even though normal D6 would do.

From the core rules, the Crime attribute and its associated skills:

CRIME: Your aptitude for crime will come in handy when acting in secret or to notice incoming threats.
Awareness: Keep your eyes and ears open, notice incoming threats.
Dexterity: Perform sleight of hand, steal something, pick a lock.
Stealth: Hide, sneak, or move quietly.
Streetwise: Interact with criminals, recall information useful for moving in seedy neighborhoods or dealing with organized crime.

I was prepping to review but thought you may like this.

Ooooh, is the new cool game? Will we all be playing it at cons?

No idea but I’m very tempted to run it.

The art is fantastic and looks done mostly by one artist.

I’m delighted with Outgunned and look forward to getting it to the table as soon as I’ve got a run of The Troubleshooters out of the way. So many good things about it, but the central mechanic, which is in many ways a simpler version of poker dice (no straights or flushes to worry about) is quick and easy to grasp and the rule tweaks for different action genres set out in Action Flicks are really nicely thought through.

2 Little Mice have released details of all the pledge levels for Outgunned Adventure and there are routes to get the original KS material, the new game and extras or both.

Very good work of those TwoLittleMice (they are the same folk behind the Adventures in the Household 5e).
So I am here tempted to go all into this Outgunned project, but it is expensive for my current condition, so not sure I can afford it this time round either, maybe that is why I dropped to PDF initially.

I feel like I want to look at this. I played Broken Compass recently and enjoyed the core gameplay.

I'm wondering if they have decided to refresh Broken Compass and, rather than do a second edition/printing, they've rebranded it as Outgunned Adventure. Looking at the original KS there seems to be a lot of overlap of content and Broken Compass is no longer on their website.

They no longer own the rights to Broken Compass, so this could well be a way of revisiting on their own terms. That said, as I understand it (I never got to play BC), there are significant distances between the systems, and the emphasis is more heavily on action rather than adventure/exploration.
