Other Games New convention Bromsgrove November

It's 50:50 for me. These days I'm reluctant to drive much more than 2 hours away from home, and it's basically the wrong side of Birmingham for me.

Full disclosure - I think there’s still an pandemic on and won’t even be considering cons until the crucible of winter 2021 is over. If not for that, this would be a strong contender for me.

I just thought other people might be interested.

But dormitory-style or "scout hut" accommodation is a deal-breaker for me. I won't sleep if anyone in the room is snoring. They won't sleep when my diabetes wakes me up every 2 hours to switch on the light and trudge to the loo. :-(
I hadn't even looked at the accommodation... Agreed - dormitory accommodation is also so not for me - I'm way past considering that level of (dis)comfort. Even when we went to Tentacles Omega we booked a hotel in town and walked up. Continuum is about the minimum accommodation level I want.

I wonder if this is effectively a replacement for the Naish conventions (when I went we stayed at my Mum's).

Yeah, I'm that guy that snores all night, so no-one wants to be in the same room as me (just ask my wife!). I wouldn't say I'm part considering that level, because basically I never did.

If you are looking for a replacement for the Naish cons, I recommend ConTingency in January (at Searles holiday park in Hunstanton just north of King Lynn) and (provisionally because it's new) ConDensed the weekend before this one in November (at Billing Aquadrome in Northampton). ConTingency was explicitly started as a replacement for Conception, and was originally at a park in the New Forest before they had to find a new venue.

I didn't go routinely - I went because I'd be staying at my Mum's. I found the earlier cons to be more to my taste; later cons got too mainstream for me. I also disliked playing in the main halls; the background noise levels were atrocious, and then you got people bellowing. In later years I'd just pop into the dealers if I happened to be down that weekend and left it at that. Then Mum had her stroke and ended up in nursing care near my sister, and I barely went to Poole.

At LARPing weekends, a group I used to play with always segregated their snorers into a separate room. If anyone was reported to be snoring badly when they'd claimed not to be, then they were mandated to the snorers' rooms thereafter.
Worked ok - but it was kind of a small circuit of people who mainly knew each other.
