I have a macMini (Late 2014) 2.8GHz 8Gb RAM Fusion Drive 1.25Tb that is refusing to cooperate since it went to Mojave (currently on 10.14.6). It's the machine that I bought second hand to replace my dead iMac and restored my old account to successfully. The machine worked fine on High Sierra.I'd prefer not to install Catalina as there are some 32bit apps I still need access to.

  • It's decided that it wants to ignore iCloud Drive (and beachballs the Finder if you have it switched on).
  • It also won't recognise the previous purchases on the App store.
I've tried logging the app store out and logging into the App Store on the guest account (which shows everything I've bought) and then switching back, but it doesn't work. I don't have Family Sharing switched on which is one of the other causes listed on the help forums).

I've reinstalled macOS from the Restore tool, and the issue persists. Next step I'm planning is to erase the users, reinstall Mojave and then reinstall the user.
I'd appreciate advice though.

Am I better to reinstall the user account from the SuperDuper! bootable clone or from the Time Machine backup? I'm wondering if the clone may well carry the same issue?

Thanks.

Oh, and @Newt? MAC MAC MAC!

MAC! MAC!....oh hang about I now support two ipods and iphones courtesy of the ladies of my house holds who are both MAC-USERS! :D

MAC its going to get you in the end :D

Given that most stuff these days are in the cloud, or reinstallable, what do you lose by doing a clean install, logging into the App Store and reinstalling, and then tidying up any missing apps?
Your settings can be saved to iCloud, and restored once you have a clean machine..
I did that with mine recently and it was really simples..

iCloud is the problem. Cannot get to purchases. I’m effectively doing a reinstall but trying to maintain the set up.
