2nd Game of Dinosaur World, results the same as last night (Ben first, Jenny second, me last) except this time I was - like - REALLY last (only scored 7 points after deductions for all the visitor deaths. Ben scored 57, Jenny scored 53.) I blame them for having nice, safe dinosaur parks. Have they not watched Jurassic Park?
We've played it about a dozen times. It took a good four games to get it down to the 5 hours playing time suggested. Maybe I game with players who suffer from analysis paralysis, but I would suggest if it's your first time the four of you are playing that you give yourselves a good six hour slot.

I've played it quite a lot since 1986! A few weeks ago I did a solo run through and it took me 2.5 hours. I wasn't really tracking scoring though. This time will be longer as a couple of players have not played it before.
I remember playing a game a long time ago, and one of the players had only played Risk. When the Romans approached the north, all the Picts ran out of the mountains to fight the Romans - with predictable results. It's the only game I've ever seen where the board was practically empty when the Romans left...

I took a look at the RPG when it was announced and was unpersuaded. Didn't quite see the point, and the production wasn't sufficiently great in itself to make me get it.
Ok we had 4 players (+1 who turned up a bit later so took over from me with some help). Only one had played before other than me. Started at 12:30 and we finished about 5:45 so 5:15 hours including rules.
Romans got off to a tricky start and only made it about halfway up England. As a result the Picts were very strong and the Scotii never got a foothold in Scotland. It also meant that the Brigantes and Welsh did well. The Romano-British and the Belgae held on right up to the last, with the R-B being eliminated on turn 16. Saxons did well having enough red votes to be Bretwalda all 3 times. There was never a King as no one faction was able to get enough areas to hold. Harold was killed in a battle against William (near Gloucester) but it was a close thing. Svein Estrithson didn't last long, and the game ended with an impasse between William and Harald Hardrada.
