[generic] Are we doing RPGaDay this year?

Day 27. How has the character changed?

Beyond recognition. Now a sorcerer of some power, his softer edges have been roughed up by the casual cruelties and desperation encountered in Barovia. He knows that he has lost a part of him, but such is what seems needed.

So, I decided there was no point continuing with the 'questions about your most recent character', since they carry the assumption that I was playing a character long-term, when almost all my gaming in the last few years has either been a) when I've GMed or b) a one-shot by someone else. Hence I have substituted my own prompts instead.

AltDay 25: You know what's a good game for going places? Patchworld, a whole game about exploring an old-fashioned CRPG overworld, drawing maps and telling stories as you go!

AltDay 26: Why does anyone do what they do? In Above the Law, you're driven by a 'maxim', a statement of deepest belief; when you 'break', you come back as you were , but you must choose a new maxim to live by and explain the change.

AltDay27: Character changes? You know what's a good game for a character changing? Oops, I'm a Monster is all about a young person transforming unexpectedly into a monster and what they & their friends then do about it. High jinks ensue!

Day 28: Back to the regular prompts now, so here's an RPG cover I love

Surely he's found love, or is it just a casual holiday fling with Ireena?

28 - Style Sunday: Roll 1d8+1, tag that many friends with your favourite RPG cover art.

Not doing the tagging thing, but I've always found this cover irresistable. The whole TWERPS range is beyond charming.

Day 28. What is your favourite cover art?

Ignoring the tag, I could have gone for 1d8+1 covers, there are so many and no outright favourite. This Jorune cover back in the 80s was outstanding. The scene has a story that speaks of the game. Leave your world behind.

28 - Your favourite RPG cover art.

I am generally underwhelmed by RPG cover art and don’t like most of it. I think the best-looking RPG is/was Traveller: I really liked the little black books for their understated elegance. That’s not really “cover art” though, is it?

I like some of the old games workshop covers - Ian Miller’s for Death on the Reik and Warhammer City and John Blanche’s for the Enemy Within in particular

However my favourite modern one is M-Space image.jpg

29 - Who would you like to see take part in #RPGaDAY?
Someone who has no idea of what RPG’s are – it would be interesting to see what their answers were (not to laugh at them or poke fun at their ignorance though.)

I'd be wiling to bet the Queen has no idea what RPGs are. Or may she does. Maybe she has a set of goldplated dice and custom D&D class called "Queen" WotC created for her.

I'm willing to bet that HMTC has full knowledge of RPG's. After all, she's been playing successfully the biggest one of all -Queen of the Commonwealth. She's done and had to like/endure stuff (traditiional food etc.) that we only create in imagination.

I didn't do yesterday's as I couldn't think of an answer - but I like @Polar Blues' suggestion of the Queen. Inspired.

30 - What should #RPGaDAY do for its 10th anniversary next year?

Realise that 31 questions is too many. These are starting to run out of steam—as are the answers.

I’d prefer fewer questions, more spaced out.

30 - What should #RPGaDAY do for its 10th anniversary next year?

I don't know. It's just a bit of fun. I don't expect every question to elicit deep, meaningful answers. I think it's OK to repeat the odd question of questionnaires from different years, less OK to repeat what is effectively the same question on the same questionnaire. But in the end, it a "If you build it, they will come." sort of thing.

Back in hospital tomorrow so here's my last three (I added the anecdote as well)

30 - What should #RPGaDAY do for its 10th anniversary next year?
Live long and prosper

31 - When did you first take part in #RPGaDAY?
This year

?? - Anecdote Alternative: Roll 1d8+1, tag that many friends and tell a gaming story about them.
a) From Prelude to Freedom referee notes –
If they don’t stop her – the plant will go critical in a short space of time (2D6 + 12 minutes) and explode. The explosion will be around ten megatons, the fireball will be 5 km in diameter and the blast radius will be 35 km.
If you really want to roll for the damage – it’s 2D6 x 10 to the power 6.
During a (very) early play of this scenario, one player who was caught at Ground Zero asked if the two frag grenades he was carrying went off! My reply was “Probably, but I don’t think anyone noticed.”

b) I did have a player who stubbornly maintained that they had been trained not to scream whilst being eaten alive by Green Slime.

Day 29: Holy heck, what? OK, I'd like to see Henry Cavill do RPGaDay , because why not?

Day 30: For it's 10th anniversary, RPGaDay should attack & dethrone God.

Day 31: All these RPGaDays kind of blur together when I look back at them, but I guess I've been doing them for... a while now? Kind of a lame prompt to end this on, but yay, that was this year's RPGaDay!

31 - When did you first take part in #RPGaDAY?

Can't remember. I've taken part in a few.

As with most good gaming stories, you just had to be there.
