We're growing an amazing array of #ttrpg games at #AireCon 2025 in Harrogate ( www.airecon.co.uk ). If you'd like to play some RPGs and explore a lovely Yorkshire Spa Town, then I'd recommend! I still have some more spaces for GMs if you'd like to offer? Sign up here: https://www.airecon.co.uk/gms
I'm thinking of offering to run something at AireCon. Do you have a view on what sorts of games are likely to be of interest to the AireCon audience? I get the impression the con is boardgame focused so a weird indie RPG might not get many takers. Is that a reasonable assumption?

We get a wide take-up of many sorts of games, and I tend to always suggest that you run a game that you feel passionate about. Did you have a game in mind?

I had a few ideas in mind - maybe Cavaliers of Mars which I'd like to try out, or something 4th Edition D&D, maybe set in Dark Sun or maybe using the related Gamma World 7th Edition. Or the game I have the most experience running at conventions is Masks: A New Generation, which I've run several times at Indie Games on the Hour at Dragonmeet. And I'm indecisive so was trying to narrow my options a bit down with my original question.

I'm not helping, but all of your suggestions would be great! Why not Masks!
And as a counterpoint to @Guvnor, I have run a cracking D&D 4e game at a convention. I think a little more preparation of the paraphenalia is helpful, including power cards, battle mat and standees/tokens/minis. For all the reasons that I love 4e, they translate to player absorption at the convention table. You need to be on top of your game though.
If anyone is looking to play City of Mist, I'm running two games next Saturday afternoon (15/3/25) and evening at Airecon in Harrogate (UK). They're both from Local Legends - The Unwanted Guest (it's in the programme as The Uninvited Guest) and Maestro of Chalk.
If anyone wants to play Traveller (Cepheus), I'm running on Sunday afternoon (16/3) as well (A Nice Easy In and Out).
A sort of a feedback AireCon Report after running games there. I won't cover the food options and the security getting as those have been mentioned and responded on the AireCon Facebook page
We arrived there Thursday afternoon and queued for our passes then wandering around where every thing was we exited the venue to get our games and queue again because who doesn't like queueing.........I dropped my games off at the bring and buy. There was some unclear what queue was for what and after queueing there three times before my games were put to the bring and buy. Then we went played some games of Azul and Tussie Mussie then headed back to the hotel to the bar there before bed.
Friday, after breakfast at the Danish cafe we.....joined the queue to go in. I went straight to the RPG to run my first game which was Rivers of London - The Haunted Dollhouse the players enjoyed the case and it fitted the 3 hour slot well. There was good suggestion from one of the players about making the dolls not speak and it would be spookier. I did get a chat with one of the Chaosium attendees who appeared to ask about the game.
My afternoon game didn't happen which would have been Tales of the Old West which was a pity though I did step in as a player to help another GM run a game with their two signed up players which was Hillfolk. It was interesting as never tried the Drama system though I did find it had the flaw on relying on the players to bring to the story. It does require in the scene that the players describe their intention in a scene on what they want and then the others will role play to determine if they get what they want.
In the evening was my own time so played a couple of boardgames - Innovation and War Story Occupied France which I may get in the future. Then it was off to the hotel bar for some drinking before bed.
Saturday after getting my Egg Benedict, it was that fun part of the convention to join the queue. I was running Rivers of London - The Haunted Dollhouse which I ran with the modification of the dolls and was a better effect. Again the players enjoyed it and I managed to get some good feedback around future games like reference sheets.
In the afternoon, I wandered the trade hall and picked up a couple of things and more dice. Mainly scouting for gaming before sitting down for tea. I also got to chatting to a few familiar faces and picked up some conversations over the stands about some ideas that I may t
In the evening ran Alien - Lasalle Drifting Forest , the second time I ran this scenario this year. It was quite tight in time as I had to push the players to go for the dangerous areas to trigger the xenomorph horror. Once again the players had fun and got my obvious film rip off clues, I have come to realise that I may not offer this scenario in future conventions for the rest of the year as it is more a two session given there is a lot for the players to explore.
Well after that it was hoping for another hotel bar but we were shifted from our regular setting due to the Hotel offering a St Patricks Irish Ceilidh but that didn't stop our drinking.
Sunday, last day of the convention, after my Eggs royal breakfast, I was running Ghostbusters - The Haunting of Marston House for a group that played in my last year's Ghostbusters game. They wanted to do a bit of roleplaying but this time I found it was where the area had the loud GMs at other tables so struggled to compete. They still enjoyed the adventure and who knows I may see them next time.
Final bit of the afternoon was a last look at the trade hall for some items and picking up my unsold bring and buy items before heading home.
I ran Pendragon at Airecon and it was a joy and delight. I really think I should have signed up for a game myself and yet I also didn't get to chat enough with old friends (well @First Age and I had a great chinwag).
Failed to get trained up running Cult of Chaos demo games.
It was a tricky weekend for me, committments at home and a big trip to pack for.
However I love Airecon and next year I shall commit a bit more.
It's one of my absolute favourites, just in case my odd experience suggests otherwise!
Friday at Airecon, I was GMing two separate Pendragon RPG adventures. As Chaosium Inc. were sponsoring the RPG section, it meant that my games were free to play in - and both sold out with a full player complement of 4.
The RPG sessions are really well organised at Airecon, and the introduction from last year of the room dividers really helps to keep noise levels manageable.
My first session was running The Adventure of the Great Hunt, which is an official Chaosium adventure for public events. It is basically about the player knights trying to get a panther to belch at a dragon! It is a bit silly (almost Pythonesque) but is lots of fun and really leans into the esoterica of the Pendragon world. Lots of great opportunities for roleplaying and creative problem solving.
The next session was an adventure of my own devising, based on an old folk song (which is where I draw a lot of my inspiration from). "The Love and Labours of Sir Cauline" has a very different feel and a set "cast" of characters - Sir Cauline, his squire, his bodyguard and his spiritual adviser. My players all played their roles with a suitable degree of dramatic flair and engaged with the Pendragon systems of Traits and Passions while doing so. I was really pleased with how well the adventure played and the players succeeded in their quest (despite nearly losing Sir Cauline to his injuries). A last minute first aid roll by his squire saved the day - to much rejoicing at the table.
